FAQs

Your questions answered

Here are some of the educationally related questions we’re most often asked by parents and other stakeholders.

Why choose a Blenheim school?

As a parent, you want three things for your child’s education. Naturally, you’ll want them to enjoy a happy and positive educational experience. You’ll expect them to achieve strong academic outcomes. And you’ll want them to acquire important skills such as confidence, adaptability and ‘life readiness’. At Blenheim Schools, we value all these aspects and firmly believe that you should never have to choose between them.

Does academic knowledge still matter?

Yes, it does. You may hear that students no longer need knowledge and can thrive just with creativity, problem-solving and Google. But in our experience, that’s not true. Knowledge still matters a great deal. It gives young people an understanding of the world, with cultural literacy and intellectual confidence. It also provides a foundation for future study and work. Without strong subject knowledge, problem-solving becomes guesswork, creativity lacks depth and unfounded confidence can be easily shaken.

Are skills more important than knowledge?

Of course, knowledge on its own is not enough. Students also need to know how to apply what they know. They need to learn to think independently, work with others, and adapt when things change. These skills will become increasingly crucial but they can’t be gained through abstract study. We believe that skills become more meaningful when they are learned through real academic content.

How does learning work at Blenheim schools?

Our learning is designed to be active and purposeful. Across every subject, students are encouraged to acquire knowledge through inquiry, reading, listening and exploration. We invite them to connect ideas to what they already know, and to the wider world. And we enable them to transform their thinking through reflection, discussion and application. This means our students are not simply learning information; they are learning how to use, question and apply it.

What does day-to-day school life look like?

We teach our rich and rigorous curriculum in ways that build curiosity and confidence. In our lessons, students don’t just listen but actively think, question and discuss. Skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration are woven naturally into subject lessons and our teachers adapt learning to each learner’s individual needs. This also leads to strong examination outcomes because understanding beats memorisation every time.

How will our approach benefit your child’s future?

The future workplace is complex and rapidly changing. Whilst nobody can predict exactly how it will look, we do know that it will require people who can learn continuously, think deeply, adapt confidently and act thoughtfully. At Blenheim Schools we’re preparing students to meet this uncertain future with enduring knowledge, transferable skills and strong guiding values. Students leave us not only academically qualified but capable, confident and ‘life ready’.

Is it all about academic excellence at Blenheim?

Not at all. We would never expect parents to choose between either outstanding academic results or a childhood filled with joy, friendship and purpose. At Blenheim, excellence never comes at the expense of our pupils’ wellbeing. We provide a happy, secure and supportive environment in which every child’s curiosity is inspired, their individual identity is recognised, and their sense of purpose is nurtured.
